Thivanka Image House was built by King Maha Parakramabahu during the 12 th century. Since the main image of the Lord Buddha has been curved in 3 places, this has been named as “Thivanka”. The Sinhala meaning of “Thivanka” is three curves. This image house is also made by using clay bricks including the image.
