The Royal Palace of King Maha Parakramabahu also known as “Waijayanthi Prasadaya” and it is located in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. This majestic palace was built by king Parakramabahu as his Royal palace with seven stories and nearly 1000 chambers. Today it can be seen massive walls with the thickness over one meter and with the height about 30 feet (9 meters). It is believed that the large holes in the walls probably for holding massive wooden structures that formed the floor of the upper levels. The palace of the King Parakramabahu is a great structure which reflect the ancient civil engineering technology and currently it is a great tourist attraction in Polonnaruwa.
